Demi pulled into the parking lot of the beach and got out of her car. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, waves were crashing, and all of the irritating tourists weren't around. Demi took a deep breath of the salty air and exhaled a sigh of relief. She Pulled her hair into a tight pony tale, grabbed her board and bag off the car, and headed down to the beach. She looked around trying to find the group of friends that were supposed to meet her there, but they were out of sight. A group of people looked like it could be them, so she jumped up and waved, when they looked at her like she was insane, she realized that they weren't them. She shrugged, if they wanted to find her they would. Demi rummaged through her bag looking for something to occupy her time. She grabbed her notebook that she hadn't looked at for a long time. She started to open it when a picture fell out. It landed on her towel upside down, so she turned it over. Demi Gasped, it was a picture of Daniel, her brother. Quickly she stuffed the picture back into the notebook and threw it into her bag. She tried to shake it off, but it wasn't working, Demi grabbed her board and ran to the water, she really didn't care that her stuff was all alone, if someone wanted to take it by all means they could, she could care less. Right now she wanted to be as far away from her bag as possible. Attachments:

Tess was running late with meeting up with Demi. They had only just started to be friends, and lateness was probably not appreciated. Gramma was taking her time with the truck this morning, and Dad left early. Gramma had talked Tess's ear off the whole way there, about how supposedly, her best friend's grandson was getting married, and how Tess should marry him. "Thanks Gram, but I'm just fine being single." She replied with a smile. "He's only 30 darling, that's not too old, and guess what? He has a steady job!" Her grandmother said excitedly. Tess laughed. "Oh boy then. I have to go marry him now." She said, a smile on her face. Tess got out of the car, and ran to the beach, her cover-up flying behind her. She got to Demi's stuff, but Demi was no where to be found. Tess saw a glimpse of orange, and followed it to who she hoped was Demi.

The waves were fantastic today, the water was still cold and refreshing, thank fully because it was hot. As she rode the wave toward the shore, she could see Tess sitting by her stuff.
She dove under the water one last time before getting out with her board and heading to Tess and her stuff.
"Oh My God! the water is Fantastic! Do you surf?" Demi asked hoping that she might have a new surfing partner to take the place of the time she used to spend with her brother.

Tess laughed at Demi's excitement. "No, sorry. Not very good at sports. Wish I was though." She smiled. She spread her towel out, and put her bag on top of it.
"So, you like sports I take it?" She said, as she sat down, and took out suntan lotion. She reapplied it all over. "I'm so scared of skin cancer. SPF 50." She said displaying the bottle. "Nothing can get to me. Not with this on." She said, as she took off her glasses and rubbed it all over her face. "Do you wants some?" She asked with a smile.

"like sports?" Demi laughed, "I live them, have to stay strong you know."
Demi reached into her bag and pulled out her lotion and held it up, "only 50, I use 75 the sun is a bit stronger here in Florida, its the sport kind so that it doesn't wash off in the water."
Demi placed her board down and sat on it. The board was still cold from the water so it felt really good.
"I could teach you how to surf, I mean if you want." Demi smiled a bit.

"Oh boy. That seems dangerous." she said worriedly. "I'm a stickler for safety. And rules. I mean, there's a reason we have them, right? I mean, they're there to keep us safe, and as I stated earlier, I'm a stickler for safety."
She laughed. "Well, I guess I've gotta up my SPF then! Skin cancer. Not awesome." she said.

Demi tossed her the sun screen,"Here." She sprawled out on the board putting her face down on the side of the board.
"You can't have any fun if you don't break the rules sometimes," Demi said the best she could with her face mushed against a surf board.
"I mean some rules are nice but, come on, What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."

"Well, typically, what doesn't kill you tends to bring you very close to death, and sometimes into a coma. So, to avoid all pain and chances of being closer to death, I chose the safe road." She smiled. "But maybe I'll try something new with you. Maybe, like, wasabi! I've always wanted to try that!"
"Dad never let me try it. He thought it'd be too spicy. Don't blame him though. I mean, I've seen horror videos on youtube about that kind of stuff. People tricking others into thinking its ice cream." She shook her head. "Not smart in the least bit.

Demi couldn't help but to laugh, "I don't eat wasabi, and being dangerous doesn't always put you in near death situations. If you think it will, then it will, that's why you should never think of the worst possible thing. However you should know how to get out of any situation. Like right now, if we had an earth quake, we would go to my car and drive inland. But this is the east coast and earthquakes don't really happen here."
Demi watched Tess' face turn pale, well crap, "Don't worry Tess, I've got your back, I would never leave a friend behind."
unless it is a cockroach, cockroaches every man for them self, Demi thought but she didn't say it out loud, she didn't want to freak Tess out any more than she already had.

Tess laughed nervously. "I'm fully aware of risks. And I think that's what bothers me the most. I realize that, you know, we're safer here, but I just can't get my mind off the risks." She smiled.
"I guess it's just my way of life. Just can't get away from it." She said. She shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know. But I do know we have to do something fun. We do! Like, I don't know, just something really, really fun." She said with a bright smile. "Or, we need to find someone else, to, you know, make it a nice group of three."

Demi looked at her bag, and smiled, "I can get your mind off the risks, it will make you enjoy life a lot more too, that what i found." Demi raised her eyebrows and looked at Tess, "I'll teach you how to surf, you don't even have to stand up on the board, you can just lay on it and feel the waves, trust me it will be nice, plus guys love female surfers!" she said doing a little dance.
Tess mentioned something about finding another friend, well they probably didn't want to find another surfer, that would probably be to much action for Tess to handle. It would be nice to have two friends. "Surfing can wait till you trust me more, do you want to go for a walk? I mean that's how i found you, i just plopped down to the first lonely person I could find really, It works, though i only did it once." Demi sat up and dug her feet into the sand until she reached the layer of refreshing cool sand.

"Well, I get kinda seasick, but hey. I'm up for it," She said talking about surfing. "Well, maybe later. I'm not in a very 'let's go do high impact activities' mood, you know?" She asked. Tess laughed at her little dance about boys. "Well then! I guess I've gotta start surfing!" She said with a smile.
"Sure. Let's go on a walk. Who knows who we'll meet!" She looked up at the sky. "And it's a very nice day. I think that a walk is a great idea." She smiled, as she hopped up from her seat.
